In the Intensive English class, the students are following established classroom and literacy routines. The IE Essential unit has a broad focus on English speaking, listening, reading, and writing. 

In reading, the students are working on story comprehension through various reading strategies. They are also increasing their vocabulary. The students are learning about writing traits and working on the writing process. They are also practicing spelling and grammar each week. Games and role-playing are interesting ways to allow the students to speak and practice English in the classroom. The students regularly engage in activities in the IXL computer program. This program allows the students to work on skills in reading, writing, and grammar.
